Carbon Dioxide extinguishers are primarily made of pressurized non-flammable carbon dioxide gas. The pressure inside the cannister of the extinguisher is so high that dry ice may form when using the extinguisher. It also contains a valve with a safety release pressure to prevent any bursting of cylinders in situations of fires involving high temperatures.
